I

The problem

Commercial awareness advice hasn't changed in a decade. Read the FT. Work through a video course library. Take the quiz at the end and hope it clicks when it matters. Most people finish all of it and still freeze the moment an interviewer asks what a rate rise actually does to a leveraged buyout.

II

Why that model fails

Recognising a term and reasoning with it live are different skills. An interviewer doesn't want you to recite something you read last week. They want you to apply it to a client you've never heard of, on the spot, with no notes. Watching more content trains the first skill. It does very little for the second.

III

Why I built Briefed

I went through this process myself. Information was never the problem, there's more of it than anyone could get through. What I couldn't find was somewhere to actually attempt an answer, see exactly where it fell apart, and have another go. So I built that. I write every story and every prompt myself, and each one exists so you can answer it.

IV

The philosophy

Briefed treats commercial awareness like something you train. Every session ends with you producing an actual attempt, marked, with a clear steer on what to fix. Spend less time absorbing someone else's take on a deal. Try building your own view of it and see how it holds up.
